Our Story

Poor Ezra’s Almanac was born out of necessity. Founder and editor Joe DeBritz wanted a place to display his own writing as well the work of artists and writers working outside of the mainstream.

Joe DeBritz is a writer and painter based in Brooklyn, New York. He writes short fiction and poetry and is an abstract painter. His poetry has been published in Oddball Magazine. DeBritz’s goal is to create a community of like-minded artists who can share ideas, collaborate, and elevate each other.

Other contributors who were integral to this publication are Donovan Ingram, Tom Perlee, and Allison DeBritz. They helped build the idea behind the magazine, and the taste that will inevitably shape the issues to come. Allison DeBritz, the magazine’s Art Director, will guide and shape the design of each issue.

Tom Perlee is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist as well as a burgeoning essayist and literary translator. He is currently working on an album that will be released later this year.

Donovan Ingram is a photographer, sommelier, and and aspiring restaurateur. His tea program at Blue Hill Stone Barns was featured in the 2022 Summer Issue of Vogue Magazine.
